I thought Farmington could hang with New Canaan.

I was wrong.

The Indians had no chance in this game and that was apparent from the opening kickoff.

The Rams picked off Farmington on the third play of the game, scored on the next series and rolled from there, winning 46-0.

Shockingly, it was the Rams only shutout this season.

New Canaan out-gained Farmington 583-115 in total yards.

Once Farmington fell behind it was pretty clear they had little hope of rallying against the Rams stout defense which played as well as it has all season.

  • I was thoroughly impressed with Farmington’s Ivan Guadalupe. Pretty sure he never came off the field, running the ball (14 runs for 58 yards), playing safety (making an interception), punting (5 punts, 37.2 yard average) and even throwing a pass (incomplete). I put him up there with Ethan Suraci of North Haven and Brett Phillips of Wilton as my favorite players to watch this season. Rams sideline keeper of the dry balls, Bill Brown, joked that Guadalupe probably drove the bus down from Farmington, too.
  • I for one, am excited at the prospect of North Haven vs New Canaan Saturday at Law High School in the semifinals but more on that game later.
  • Smallest crowd I have seen at New Canaan game this year. School night and Turkey Bowl hangover no doubt hurt attendance in the final home game of the season. Hope the Rams bring a good crowd up to Milford, North Haven surely will.
